EMA 2025.26
Applications are invited from young people whose date of birth falls between 1 March 2006 and 28 February 2010 and applications can be made via Education Maintenance Allowance – Perth & Kinross Council
Full Award – For young people who will be 16 on or before 30 September 2025, their application should be received by PKC’s EMA team on or before 30 September 2025. It it arrives after this date, then the award will commence from the date their application is received.
Part Award – Young people who will be 16 on or between 1 October 2025 and 28 February 2026, they can submit their application prior to their birthday. However, if eligible for an award payments will commence on 5 January 2026. Awards for applications received after 27 February 2026 will be made from the date of application.
Household income is assessed on FY24/25 income received. Applications can be based on FY 25/26 income, but when this occurs a partial award can be made up to December 2025. It will then be necessary to reassess in January 2026, before payments can continue.

Applications for free school meals and assistance with school clothing/footwear for school session 2024/25 opens from 1 July 2024.
Parents will be able to complete the form online on or after 1 July 2024 here – Free school meals and school clothing grants – primary and secondary – Perth & Kinross Council (pkc.gov.uk).
Any applications that are submitted before 1 July cannot be processed for session 2024/25, these applications will be refused, and parents will be asked to reapply again after 1 July 2024.
